HYDERABAD: TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao was today discharged from a hospital here after being admitted for 13 days during his fast for a separate Telangana state.

Telangana move splits AP parties on regional lines

HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh on Thursday plunged into a political crisis with the Congress high command setting the ball rolling to hive off a separate Telangana. The move split the ruling party, TDP and PRP legislators virtually on regional lines and 93 MLAs from the three parties and at least five MPs cutting across party lines submitted their resignations to the respective speakers in protest against the Telangana development. 39 suicides a day in AP

Hyderabad, Nov. 17: Andhra Pradesh now has the dubious distinction of ranking second in the country in the number of reported suicides. On an average, 39 people a day end up killing themselves in the state.

According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), out of 1.22 lakh suicides every year in the country, Andhra Pradesh records around 14,224. (read more…)

India stands-2Bangalore: India is not only perceived to be one of the most corrupt countries by the transparency international in its annual corruption perceptions, ranking 84th in the list of 180 countries in terms of public-sector corruption, which is perceived to be highly corrupt.

While releasing the list of naming and shaming the world’s most corrupt countries, the international watchdog has for the first time recommended that tax havens like Switzerland and Liechtenstein should do away with the secrecy in banking laws. (read more…)

Rosaiah to open P.V. Expressway today

HYDERABAD: The much awaited P.V. Elevated Expressway would finally be thrown open to airport-bound traffic from Monday after inauguration by Chief Minister K. Rosaiah.

The project, which faced long delays that resulted from shifting of utilities to the financial crunch faced by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), would formally be declared open with a function at the Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital, Mehdipatnam point, by the Chief Minister at 4.30 p.m. (read more…)
